Bonita Forsyth
"When a child enters the world of BC Author/Illustrator Bonita Forsyth, they enter a world of fantasy. Bonita takes young readers on adventures in nature with her beautiful paintings and just a few words. In her chapter books she takes older readers into the realm of fantasy through the adventure of reading."
Gaeil Farrar, Journalist
Born and raised in the West Kootenay region of British Columbia, Canada and now living with her family on a quiet lake in the Cariboo, Bonita finds plenty of natural inspiration to continue writing and painting.
Inspired by the wildlife around her, Bonita took a leave from her teaching career to devote her time to painting wildlife art and writing and illustrating a collection of nature inspired children's books to share with her students. Each book spotlights an animal character from our Canadian wilderness and their adventures are brought to life in her colourful and detailed watercolour illustrations.
Her students, in return, inspired Bonita to continue writing these stories about Snowboarding Bunny, Jonathan, and the other magical characters from her books.
After producing six picture books, during one of those blissful moments when she let her imagination drift into pure fantasy, Bonita dreamed up the intricately detailed, world of Mineria, where her story book characters would be magically transported through a mystical gazing globe that Jonathan and his rabbit discover in the garden. Three young adult fantasy novel have evolved since then titled, ICE, FIRE & AIR. All three chapter books are peppered with Bonita's fantasy art.
Bonita continues to paint and exhibit her detailed watercolour wildlife and fantasy art, and is presently working on the fourth fantasy novel, titled EARTH, in the Chronicles.
"I sincerely hope my stories will, in turn, inspire my readers to dream, imagine, create and appreciate the beauty and magic of our natural world that surrounds us everyday."
